However, recently, the FIFA U-17 World Cup witnessed a landmark change, something that hadn't happened in many years. The number of participating teams has been increased. Previously, the U-17 tournament had 16 teams for 20 years. After that, the number of teams was increased from 2007 to 24. Now, the organizers have decided to include a total of 48 teams in the FIFA U-17 World Cup from 2025, which is double the previous figure.
